The United Way of Davidson County held it's Annual Board Retreat on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Lexington Home Brands hosted the meeting. The Board spent the day working together to develop action steps that align with our strategic plan to carry us through the next year.

On Wednesday, January 24 Emerging Leader Society members gathered for the kick off event. Members enjoyed hanging out at Bull City Ciderworks, a friendly cornhole competition and some delicious food. On Tuesday, December 19 ten finalist gathered for the Jerry Hunt Supercenter United Way car giveaway. Ken Crews, United Way Board Chair served as the emcee for the reverse raffle. Todd and Jodi Hunt drew out the names for the prizes. The winner of the 2016 Chrysler 200 was Tammy Sholtz from Mountcastle Insurance!
The United Way hosted a retirement reception for Carolyn Thompson on Monday, December 11. The event was held at the J. Smith Young YMCA in Lexington.
Ms. Carolyn has worked for the United Way for 20 years. She has been a valuable part of the United Way and will be truly missed! Best wishes to Ms. Carolyn on her well-deserved retirement!
The United Way held the third and final report meeting on Thursday, November 30. The meeting was hosted by Halyard Health in Linwood. Reports were heard from United Way loaned executives, volunteers and company representatives. To date $950,844 has been raised toward the $1.4 million goal. The final four finalist were drawn for the Jerry Hunt Supercenter car giveaway. They are Carol Summey - Thomasville City Schools, Wesley Kiger - SII Dry Kilns, Julie McQuain - Davidson County Schools and Eric Barker - City of Lexington Fire Department.
On Thursday, October 31 the United Way held it's 2nd Report meeting at Wake Forest Baptist Health Lexington Medical Center. Over 20 Board Members, volunteers and company supporters gathered to share updates on the campaign. To date over $730,000 has been raised toward this years goal of $1.4 million.
The United Way held it's first report meeting on Friday, September 29, 2017. The meeting was hosted by Parrott Insurance. Volunteers came together to talk about the progress of the United Way campaign thus far. To date $440,840 has been raised! Thank you to the volunteers and loaned executives who have been working so hard to help reach our goal of $1.4 million!
During the month of September volunteers from all across Davidson County came together to complete 26 projects for local non-profits. This community-wide event brings folks together to help non-profits with projects that would otherwise go undone. Thank you to all of the volunteers that made this event possible!
The United Way hosted the Annual Benefactors Reception on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the home of Bill Bates and Beth Bunce. The 2017 Benefactor Honorees were Drs. Sims and Cathy Riggan. The reception is to recognize the honorees as well as all members of the Benefactors Club. The Benefactors Club is made up of over 600 individuals who give $500 or more annually to the United Way of Davidson County.
