POSITION: Director of Growth & Giving STATUS: Full-time REPORTS TO: President
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Director of Growth & Giving has primary responsibility for organizing and managing the Annual United Way Campaign, recruitment of campaign volunteers, making presentations across the county, promoting new and continuous business involvement, and coordination and creation of all marketing materials. The Director of Growth & Giving is a member of the Staff in the United Way office and must be able to work as part of a team with a high level of accuracy.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Identify, recruit and develop prospects for new business development on a year-round basis. New business can include new workplace campaigns, new corporate gifts, new sponsorships and new gifts in kind for UWDC.
- Manage and nurture assigned accounts to develop stronger UW relationships, commitment and workplace campaign support. Maintain consistent account contact and creatively explore and introduce UW opportunities, as appropriate.
- Analyze campaign potential and results for major accounts in order to determine account’s financial and participation goals year-to-year. Determine any changes that would contribute to improving the Annual Campaign
- Identify, cultivate and solicit individual donors and prospects at the leadership level. Assist in growing membership and financial support of UWDC’s donor segment groups.
- Assist in developing Campaign Strategy including identification of Campaign Chair, establishing goals and planning of Campaign Calendar.
- Plan and coordinate all Campaign related events, prepare reports for the President and the Board relative to Campaign statistics.
- Recruit and train employee campaign coordinators to maximize workplace campaigns.
- Execute UWDC’s marketing and strategic communications plan to align with organization’s mission and vision; oversee Director of Mission Advancements ideas to ensure alignment with UWW Brand Standards.
- Manage the activities associated with the creation, coordination and implementation of new and existing special events. (Benefactor’s Event, Casino Night, and outside fundraising events)
- Compile data and prepare reports for the United Way Worldwide, United Way of North Carolina, State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC).
- Assist the Administrative Assistant with picking up and delivering of mail, posting of daily payments, as well as, updates on reports and spreadsheets.
- Maintain and update the United Way website and social media accounts
- Work with the President in writing all News Releases and maintains media contacts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the President
ESSENTIAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong verbal, written and oral communication skills
- Self-starter with the ability to accurately complete tasks with minimum direct supervision
- Ability to recruit and manage volunteers and work with diverse sectors of the community
- Multi-tasking, meeting deadlines and performing under pressure
- Represent the United Way in a professional manner
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Internet required
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver’s license, automobile/vehicle, vehicle insurance.
- Must be able to work beyond normal work hours and on weekends, as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs, as needed.
